09 May ASRL Future Directions & Committee Survey
The ASRL committee has appointed a special Future Directions subcommittee to develop strategies that address the issues that are influencing the downward trend in competitor numbers. We will be providing realistic solutions and strategies to SLSA, the States, Branches and Clubs to increase the participation in surf sports. The members of the committee are:
Natasha Tunney SA – Chair
Bert Hunt NSW
Russell Lamb NSW
Don Cotterill QLD
Stuart Clarke WA
Phil Chipman QLD
As a first step, we are conducting a survey to get a current picture of surf boats. Some of the areas we are focussing on are:
Constraints influencing member involvement in surf boat rowing.
Joining a surf club and gaining the current Bronze Medallion award
Returning members trying to re-join a Surf Club
Current patrol requirements
Portability of competition membership between clubs
We are working to a very tight timeline to understand and address these issues, so this survey will be closing on Sunday 14 May. We urge as many as possible to complete this simple survey as your input will be critical to the creation of solutions.
We understand that members will have other issues they see as important to the development of the sport, and the ASRL will offer you the opportunity to expand the list at the next ASRL Annual General Meeting Member Forum on July 8th.
