ASRL State by State Forum 2015

As mentioned in the recent Newsletter the ASRL Committee are now underway in running out a State by State member Forum. Adding significant importance to these Forums is the fact that we have now also been endorsed to be part of running out the SLSA National Review of Surf Sport and Recreation as it sits within the overall organisation. These Forums will be must attend so you are now invited to read the discussion topics that we will be covering in each location. ASRL Committee 2015-16 Season - Nominees

The ASRL AGM 2015 is being held at Tweed Heads & Coolangatta Surf Lifesaving Club, Gold Coast Qld, on Saturday, 18 July 2015.  The ASRL constitution requires a vote for the President, Secretary and Three Vice Presidents in odd numbered years, (2015) and the Treasurer and three Vice Presidents in even numbered years (2016).  Nominee Resumes are available for download below. NOTICE OF 2015 ASRL ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Notice of 2015 AGM: The ASRL AGM: Date: Sat 18th July Time: 10am sharp Location: Coolangatta – Tweed Heads SLSC. Qld. Call for ASRL Committee Nominations: In accordance with clause 28.1(a), the ASRL Committee hereby calls for nominations for the President, Secretary and 3 Vice-Presidents. The Treasurer, Don Alexander, and 3 Vice-Presidents, Nathan Perry, Mick Lang and Geoff Matthews, continue in their current positions for a further 12 months. Nominations must be made in writing, signed by 2 ASRL Members and accompanied by the nominee's written consent. UK Charity Row 2015

Four Rowers, 2,500 Miles, One Boat! Yes, that's right! We're rowing around the UK in an Australian surf boat. We'll be setting off on the 2nd May from Bournemouth and spending the next 100 or so days at sea! We are four Surf Rowers from Bournemouth Surf Boat Club (UK) who are setting off on a rowing challenge on Sat May 2nd. We are rowing our 26 year old Clymer 2,500 miles around the coast of the UK (Over to Ireland) and back to Wales... then back to Bournemouth. 20 -30 miles a day for 90 - 100 days. Kipping on Boathouse Floors, beaches , hostels etc... We row to raise money for two charities - The Wessex Cancer Trust…

Surfboats in Gallipoli

19 Australian, 2 New Zealand and 5 Turkish Surfboats rowed on the Gallipoli peninsular in a spectacular show of emotional respect to the diggers and Turkish soldiers of the Gallipoli campaign. Each boat had at least two crews of rowers so 300 rowers were part of this amazing spectacle. The event, which wasn't a race, was conducted in the extremes of weather ranging from freezing and wet to beautiful and sunny. Highlights other than the event itself was to see all crews stop in front of Anzac Cove for an emotional raising of oars with 3 Bag pipers in support. Not a dry eye on the beach but even more amazing was the reaction of the tourists from all over…

ASRL Newsletter #54 - March 2015

ASRL Open, Shellharbour 2015: Wow what did Shellharbour do to the surf gods? Two major events in 10 years and they copped it in heavy surf conditions both times. It was a very tough few days for the club and officials to quickly handle all the changes. As always happens when an event of this size has to be shifted it throws up significant complications for the organizers. Congratulation to all the winners, after some very tough competition it certainly points to Aussies being a very hotly contested finale to the season.
