ASRL Open 2018 - What you need to know

Dates: Friday 16 to Sunday 18 Feb

Location: Elouera Sydney

Entries close: Friday 2 Feb

Cost: $40 per head

U19 Rowers: Free entry and free ASRL Membership

Late Entries: Friday 9 Feb carries a late fee making entry $60 per head

Payment: Clubs/Crews will be invoiced on entry and full payment must be received prior to racing commencing as a requirement of entry

Singlets & Caps: If you haven’t already received your new racing singlet and cap they will be available for collection at the Open. To collect you MUST have sent the attached sizing spreadsheet to include all crews per club at the time of entry. Your gear will then be bagged and ready for collection at the Open. You can find the size spreadsheet by clicking HERE(Excel or other.xlsx software required)

Yellow Navy racing singlets are compulsory and a condition of entry so please complete the sizing spreadsheet and email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. as you enter

Special parking and unloading requirements will be in play and will be advised closer to the date.

It is planned to run the two Areas directly to the South and North of the Elouera clubhouse. Warmup areas are going to be a tight issue to manage so your cooperation with the Referees will be appreciated and will help with keeping to program.

Win a NAVY Experience - Closes 2 Feb 2018

Team Navy and the Australian Surf Rowers League are giving YOU the chance to win a Navy experience in your state.

This could be anything from having a look at submarines, simulator experiences, ships, boats, crafts, aircraft ... the opportunities with Navy are endless and Team Navy will be offering an experience for a crew PER STATE! (Team Navy will decide the experience per state)

How to win:

You need to create a 1-2 minute video highlighting the synergies between the comradery, teamwork and honesty demonstrated in surf boat rowers and navy personal. What similarities do you see between the Navy and surf boat rowing? Get creative!

Key information is below:
- Each state will have one winner for a full crew of five members to participate in a Navy experience, chosen by Team Navy.
- Competition closes 5pm 2 February 2018
- Competition is open to all 2017/2018 ASRL members and entry is as a whole crew, not as an individual.

2018 National Selection Event

Final Crew Numbers

Open Male 14 – Open Female 12 – U23 Male 15 – U23 Female 8

Format:

Block 1: 3 Rounds of Point Score racing all divisions cutting to:

Open Male 8 crews - Open Female 8 crews U23 Male 8 crews – U23 Female 4 crews

Block 2: 1 Round of Point Score for OM, OF, & U23M with carry over points from the first Block so you accumulate your points from all 4 rounds to decide the final 4 crews in each division

Block 3: All divisions with 4 crews race 3 times in a new Point Score shifting right one alley each race

After the 3 rounds of finals the selectors decision will be to select the crew on highest points, make some allowance decision or ack for a race off of two crews.

This is a true selection event that will be tough at each level.

Time plan is to start at 8am and be complete at 2pm surf allowing

7.45am: Compulsory crew representative meeting with Referee and Event Supervisor

8am: Start first race

  1. As always conditions may dictate a change to the program or venue
  2. Backup Beaches: Tugun and Nth Kirra
  3. We need three Sweeps to hold their hand up to Work with Charles and the Carnival Committee on matters of racing and safety
  4. Don’t forget to pack the Helmets
  5. Yellow Navy singlets are essential.
